First Agyapa Deal Happened Under President Kufour in 2007 – Dr. Solomon Owusu Claims
In 2007, the NPP government “nicodemously” sold all the country’s gold reserves at a price of US 260 per ounce (on paper). Meanwhile, the world market price was US 700 per ounce. Dr. Bawumia was the Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana by then. The next NDC government should investigate this matter.
The UK central Bank was charged for causing financial loss to the state, even though some of their reserves were sold at a price of US 750 per ounce. I’m surprised that some officials at Bank of Ghana, including Bawumia were not prosecuted under the NDC government from 2009 to 2016.
As they succeeded in stealing the nation’s gold in 2007 at the blind side of Ghanaians, they think they can steal again this time through the criminally-minded Agyapa deal.
The Agyapa Royalties Deal is a discreditable intellectual robbery against all Ghanaians, regardless of political party affiliations. It should be resisted with all our strength and might.
