A report from Citi Newsroom yesterday Tuesday,22nd march,2022 confirmed that fourteen persons onboard an Accra-bound Ford vehicle from Tarkwa are believed to have died in a car crash at Asem Asa in the Shama District, near the boundary between Western and Central Regions.

A number of bodies at the scene of the accident were left charred after the crashed bus caught fire.
An eyewitness narrated the scene by saying the two vehicles finally caught fire, resulting in the burning of the passengers of the Ford carrying mainly Chinese nationals.
“Nobody in the ford was able to get out. They were all burnt,” he said.
The eyewitness also complained that it was difficult to get the police to the scene of the crash.
“We had called the police, but they didn’t come, so all the people in the bus, none, were saved. They all died.”
The police in a statement on the incident said, “On 22- 03- 2022 at about 1:45 pm Suspect driver Musah aged 40 years was incharge Arvorense Tipper truck with registration Number yet to know with his mate on board loaded with quantities of stones from Saltpond towards Takoradi direction.
On reaching a spot of the road at Komenda Sefwi along the Cape Coast – Takoradi highway, he allegedly burst the front offside tyre.
In the process he veered into the opposite lane and eventually collided with an oncoming Ford bus with registration No. GW 6628 – 21 being driven by Suspect driver Seth Tetteh aged about 35 years, with thirteen passengers including one foreigner on board travelling from Tarkwa to Accra.
The accident vehicles got ablazed and burnt all the occupants of the Ford bus beyond recognition. The driver and the mate of the Tipper truck sustained injuries and were rushed to Cape Coast Teaching hospital for treatment.
The bodies have been sent to the same Hospital’s mortuary for preservation, identification and autopsy. Efforts are being made to tow the accident vehicles to safety.”
