The Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the auspices of the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Adddo Dankwah-Akuffo Addo Have put plans in place to evacuate Ghanaian students in Ukraine to neighboring countries due to the ongoing invasion attacked launched by the Russian Army.

In a letter dated 25th February, 2022, the Ministry said, “following the closure of the Ukrainian airspace, it had become challenging to airlift our compatriots from Kyiv and other parts of the country, hence the only viable means of evacuation is by land to neighboring countries such as Moldova, Belarus, Slovakia and Hungary”.

The released also indicated that some students had already commenced their evacuation process by road to Hungary and Romania and by that relevant and official diplomats are on standby awaiting their arrival.
