Ghanaian football lovers will have the privilege to watch another version of our local “El Clasico” even before the second round of league match.
Before the celebration of 65th independence at the Cape Coast sports stadium, a match between two football giant, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak will be played in honoring the president of the republic of Ghana which is being organized by Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA.)
This match will see the attendance of the first gentleman of the land to do the kick off and presentation of medals and trophy.

“We play these matches to raise funds for the Association to execute our programs and in honoring the President, you need a fixture that can pull the crowd.”
“Again, getting this thing together at this very short notice was not easy. And as we are all aware, we haven’t had this for the past three years now so the argument of Why Hearts and Kotoko shouldn’t come in.
GHALCA CHAIRMAN ON CLUB FINANCIAL GAINS FOR PLAYING THIS YEARS’ PRESIDENT CUP
“Football is all about Business and at the same time to bring us together. So the two clubs will take an appearance fee of 50,000 cedis each and then the gate proceeds will be shared.
Ghalca as an Organizers will take 50% and the two clubs will share will take 25% each of the remaining 50%. There will be a trophy and other medals

“In our last two congress, we brought this issue up for review, we brought the white paper out and not even a single line in that report stated that we can’t play in the evening. But we were waiting for tempers to calm and see to it that, there must be a starting point to tightening up security and also Educate the fans that football isn’t about fight. So we have considered all these things and we believe that bringing back the love, demands that we put certain things behind us and move forward.”

GHALCA ANNOUNCE GATE FEES FOR PRESIDENT CUP
“We the organizers are yet to settle on a fee but we are starting from 20 cedis for popular stands, 50 for centerline, 70 cedis for lower VIP, and 100 cedis for VVIP.”
