President Akuffo-Addo Must Intervene In The UTAG Strike – Nana B.

Henry Nana Boakye, better known as ‘Nana B,’ the National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene in the UTAG issue.
Accra High Court has ordered the University lecturers to resume work after weeks on strike but the lecturers, who are calling for better conditions of service, have reportedly defied the ruling as they are still currently on strike.

According to the President of UTAG, Prof. Solomon Nunoo, they are not convinced yet to resume work as he disclosed that UTAG will file a countersuit in court tomorrow.

“Tomorrow at 1:30 pm, they will look at the substantive case to declare whether the strike is legal or illegal and also the motion to set aside the injunction ruling also has been filed…The calls coming in about the President intervening, I think it is all in the right direction. If the President will step in and intervene, fine, I think it will also help the matter but the most important thing is that the condition of service of the University teacher is extremely bad and must be dealt with,”

Addressing the issue, Nana B is of a strong view that the UTAG impasse will be resolved when the President steps in, so calling on him to call for a meeting with the lecturers.

He also asked University instructors to be considerate and listen to requests to return to the classrooms, stating, “If this continues on too long, it would be the students who suffer.”
Young people will be the ones that suffer the most”.

“I doubt these University lecturers will disrespect His Excellency the President,” he emphasized.
